UK Permitted Paid Engagement Visa

Permitted Paid Engagement visas are created for non-EEA nationals who come to the UK for up to 1 month to do specific paid work without having to apply under the Points Based System (PBS).

In addition to the Standard Visitor requirements Permitted Paid Engagement visitor must meet the following:

  1. The engagement must be arranged before the visitor travels to the UK.
  2. It must be declared as part of the visit or leave to enter the UK application.
  3. There must be a formal invitation for the engagement.
  4. The engagement must be related to the visitor’s area of expertise or occupation.

Permitted Paid Engagement visitors can:

  • Examine students, be an assessor and/ or participate in or chair selection panels for the education, arts or research organisation a visitor is invited by as a highly qualified academic.
  • Give lectures in a visitor’s area of expertise at a higher education institution, making sure it is not a part-time or full-time role.
  • Examine UK-based pilots so they meet the standards of the country a visitor comes from, by invitation of an approved UK training organisation regulated by the UK Civil Aviation Authority.
  • Provide advocacy for a court hearing, arbitration or other way of resolution of a dispute in a visitor’s area of law.
  • Take part in arts, entertainment or sporting activities including broadcasting.
  • Do minor activities related to a visitor’s work or business overseas.
